ohannesburg – Mamelodi Sundowns have moved to allay fears that they plan to scupper an overseas bid for Siboniso Gaxa.
The Bafana Bafana right-back has been garnering international admirers since the 2009 Confederations Cup and planned to complete a move abroad after the World Cup.
With the host nation no longer involved in the tournament, ‘Pa’ is keen to finalise his future, but reports have emerged suggesting the Brazilians already turned down a lucrative offer for the player.
The Chloorkop club believe he is worth more than R4-million, which is said to be the offer made for his services.
A statement from the club read as follows: “Sundowns has received enquiries from overseas teams and recently received a written offer from an overseas club.
“This offer was significantly less than the transfer fees Sundowns has paid in the past for South African players. What is even worse is that the payment period for the transfer fee is staggered over an 18 month period.
“Sundowns remain committed to release Siboniso Gaxa when a reasonable and serious offer is presented.”
The Brazilians have also revealed they are happy to part ways with Katlego Mphela and Siyanda Xulu as well, should the right offer come along from abroad.
